PREFORMA presented at JCDL/TPDL 2014

image_London1PREFORMA project has been hosted in the DCH-RP stall at the workshop on digital preservation sustainability on the EU policy level organised by the FP7 projects SCAPE and APARSEN in London in the frame of the JCLD/TPDL 2014 Conference.

 

The event, which was hosted by the City University on September 8th, 2014, brought together various EU projects/initiatives, among which PREFORMA, to present their solutions and approaches, and to find synergies between them.

Aim of the workshop, which was attended by decision makers, managers, researcher, practitioners, librarians, publishers, developers and data managers from all over Europe, was to provide an overview of solutions to challenges within Digital Preservation Sustainability developed by current and past Digital Preservation research projects.

Digital preservation sustainability on the EU policy level
The main objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of solutions to challenges within Digital Preservation Sustainability developed by current and past Digital Preservation research projects. EUDAT 2013 conference in Rome
The EUDAT 2nd conference held on 28-30 Oct 2013 in Rome, was the ideal setting to showcase these services and outline the roll out phase as well as to offer hands-on training. Discussions on the new set of EUDAT services were also a feature of the conference with semantic annotation, dynamic data & workflows addressed, a natural follow on to the Working Group discussions that were held in Barcelona in Sept. 2013.
SCAPE Project Demo & Information Days Agenda
The British Library and Statsbiblioteket are organising a demo day where it is possible to meet some of the SCAPE developers in their own environment. The developers will show how to integrate tools and services developed in SCAPE in your own preservation environment.
A new registry of services and tools for digital preservation
DCH-RP and the partners of the Community Owned digital Preservation Tool Registry are investigating the possibility to join their efforts to set up a common registry of services and tools useful for preserving digital information for the long term.
