EAGLE Mediawiki has been awarded as Best DH Tool or Suite of Tools at the Digital Humanities Awards 2016, an international prize yearly bestowed to Resources in Digital Humanities. A year ago, University of Alabama professor Sarah Parcak won a $1 million TED Prize for her work in “space archaeology” — using satellite imagery beamed down from space to search for archaeological sites lost through time. The third phase of the public PCP launched by PREFORMA started on 16 February 2017, with the virtual kick-off meeting of the testing phase. After an analysis of the results achieved and of the software released by the three suppliers that completed the prototyping phase in January 2017, the PREFORMA Evaluation Committee decided to award all the three consortia with a new contract. Building on the existing strong ties between our organisations, the Open Preservation Foundation (OPF) and BitCurator Consortium (BCC) are pleased to announce a discount trial membership opportunity that offers its members a 10% discount off annual membership fees. From 1 January 2017, members of the OPF will receive a 10% discount on membership fees when they join the BCC for a year long trial membership, and BCC members will receive a 10% discount when they join the OPF. The veraPDF consortium announced the release of veraPDF 1.0, an open-source industry-supported PDF/A validator. Led by the Open Preservation Foundation and the PDF Association, veraPDF validates all parts and conformance levels of ISO 19005 (PDF/A). The software is available under a MPLv2+/GLPv3+ license. The software is available to download on the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. Please help us improve the software by downloading and testing it. Continue reading

DPF Manager has been updated to version Version 3.1. This new version includes new features, improvements and bugfixes. One important change on this release is that we have created two new independent projects for the implementation checker and the policy checker with the aim of improving the project modularity.
