PREFORMA @ Göteborg Book FairPERICLES seminar: How can we access digital objects created 20 years ago and 100 years from now?Date: 22 September 2016 Time: 12:00- 12:45 Location: Svenska Mässan, Gothenburg, Sweden Music, photographs, videos, scientific data and art are all examples of content which is now stored digitally. How are the institutions that are collecting enormous amounts of digital content – libraries, museums, archives and research institutes – going to make sure that the material is accessible in the future as well? 100 years from now, will we even know what an iPod was? If our grandchildren find a CD, will they be able to listen to the music stored on it? This will be a discussion based on the latest findings on digital preservation from the European scientific project PERICLES and the current experiences of major players in digital preservation. With: Efstratios Kontopoulos, PERICLES researcher (CERTH-ITI, Center for Research & Technology Hellas), Christine Sauter, PERICLES Project Manager (King's College London), Maria Cavallin Aijmer, fil. dr. (Department of History Studies, University of Gothenburg), Sanja Halling (Digisam, Swedish National Archives), Peter Voisey (Findwise), Bengt Neiss (PREFORMA Project and National Library of Sweden), Göran Kristiansson (Swedish National Archives, eARD project manager). Moderator: Nasrine Olson, (The Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) at the University of Borås). Tickets information available at https://bokmassan.se/eng/visit/tickets/ |
