The fourth NALIS Forum (Sofia, 12 May 2015) concluded successfully, attended by many international experts from leading libraries and library networks, museums, universities and cultural organisations. Among the special guests, delegates of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. Antonella Fresa of Promoter SRL took part in the conference as invited speaker. Lecturers (from Europe and USA) shared their experience in local and global collaboration (not only within the library community, but also within the IT community) in the framework of projects involving the digitisation of cultural heritage, creative re-use of digitised cultural contents and citizen participation. Aim of the game, taking place on May 17 – 20 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is in the title: over four intensive days of competitive creation, participants of “Gamify it! Hackathon!” will set out to prove whether it’s possible to achieve a measurable impact towards sustainable development through fun and engagement. Jointly organised by GIZ, iceaddis and eLearning Africa, the hackathon will finish up at the eLearning Africa conference on May 20, where teams will present their newly-developed gamified tools. This weekend the first E-Space hackathon took place in Amsterdam, from the evening of the 8th until the 10th of May. The event, organised by the Europeana TV pilot of E-Space project, was challenging game and app developers, storytellers and interactive designers to create new multi-screen experiences with a focus on digitised historical footage. Organised by the Civic Epistemologies project in the framework of the EGI Conference 2015, in collaboration with EGI.eu and IBERGRID, this session will present to the EGI scientific communities platforms for and use cases of citizen science, covering the wide range of potential capabilities (such as desktop computing and pattern recognition) usable in a huge variety of disciplines, from biodiversity to digital social sciences and humanities.
