Photographic exhibition “Tomorrows and Yesterdays: Mads Nissen Meets Europe’s First Photographers” is opening on 13 May 2015 and running till 2 August 2015 at the premises of Arbejdeermuseet, one of the founding members of PHOTOCONSORTIUM. Here, award-winning Danish photographer Mads Nissen will juxtapose the original selection of around 100 early photographs from the All Our Yesterdays show with his own vision and reflections. In the 21st century, the world faces epochal changes which affect every part of society, including the arenas in which Cultural Heritage (CH) is made, held, collected, curated, exhibited or simply exists. This workshop provided a framework to understand this context of change and the impact of the move from analogue to digital. The Riga Summit, being held in Riga from 27 to 29 April, will gather government officials, business leaders, technology developers and language researchers, who will forge a unified vision for the multilingual digital single market. At the event, stakeholders will work together to develop a combined strategy, identify goals, establish partnerships and initiate concrete actions to bring about the vision of a digital single market without language barriers. The three consortia awarded with contracts for the prototyping phase – veraPDF consortium, Easy Innova and MediaArea – start development on open source file compliance checkers for documents, still images and moving image materials. This phase will last until December 2016. Continue reading
On 26 March 2015 PREFORMA underwent its first review, obtaining an excellent evaluation. The EC reviewers gave the consortium useful recommendations to improve the networking activities and to start planning the testing phase. Continue reading
The E-Space project’s technical workshop took place in Brussels, on the 23rd of March 2015, at the iMinds – Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) offices; the event, aimed at presenting E-Space’s architecture and implementation choices for the development of its technical structure, was open to the public and attended by over 50 experts from all over Europe. Thanks to this workshop, the E-Space Consortium was able to collect from the attendees a great many feedbacks and inputs, useful to complete the development of the E-Space’s Technical Space. Furthermore, the event gave evidence of the numerous and fruitful possibilities of integration between the services offered by the Europeana Labs and E-Space’s Technical Space. Continue reading
