We are pleased to announce the latest release of veraPDF, the definitive, open source PDF/A validator. Version 0.14 features Transparency and Unicode character map validation in PDF/A-2 levels B and U. This is the first release of the final design phase which began on 19 April following the PREFORMA Project EC review at the Open Source Workshop. In the third week of November (from 20th to 23rd) it was held a new edition of the Image and Research Conference, organized by the Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI) of the Girona City Council with the collaboration of the Association of Archivists of Catalonia. The latest version of veraPDF is now available for download in the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. veraPDF is building the definitive, file-format validator for all parts and conformance levels of ISO 19005 (PDF/A). This version contains several feature enhancements (conformance checker, command line, and test corpus) as well as some bug fixes. This marks the end of the PREFORMA project’s first re-design phase.
