DPF Manager: new release ready to download!

After the redesign phase, a new version of the DPF Manager is available. Version 2.0 includes many new functionalities and improvements and is now ready to be downloaded on the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. Who’s Using What: PREFORMA Project

For this edition of Who’s Using What, Gregory Markus looks towards the digital preservation challenges that GLAMs face. MediaConch Newsletter #4 – April 2016

MediaArea Team released version 16.03 of MediaConch, the open source conformance checker for audiovisual files. Among the latest updates, it now supports plugins including VeraPDF and DPFManager, the other two PREFORMA conformance checkers for electronic documents and still images. veraPDF 0.12 released alongside first version of wiki validation rules

veraPF’s latest software is now available for download in the Open Source Portal. The veraPDF validation engine implements the PDF/A specification using formalisations of each requirement in PDF/A-1, PDF/A-2 and PDF/A-3. The wiki determines each rule used by the software and provides details on the error(s) triggering a failure of the rule. Continue reading

Antonella Fresa, Technical Coordinator of PREFORMA, presented the project at the 19th edition of the ILIDE Conference. veraPDF version 0.10 released

The latest version of veraPDF is now available for download in the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. veraPDF is building the definitive, file-format validator for all parts and conformance levels of ISO 19005 (PDF/A). This version contains several feature enhancements (conformance checker, command line, and test corpus) as well as some bug fixes. This marks the end of the PREFORMA project’s first re-design phase. Software benchmarking in digital preservation

This webinar will widen the conversation to include those who were unable to attend IPRES, provide a summary of key concepts, but most importantly, provide an opportunity to join efforts with BenchmarkDP, OPF and the PREFORMA Project to establish an initial set of high-interest scenarios for benchmarking and identify opportunities for the community for future collaboration. PREFORMA visits the three suppliers

Between 20 and 30 January 2016, a team of representatives of the PREFORMA project visited the three consortia that are currently working in the prototyping phase: veraPDF, Easy Innova and MediaArea.net.
