The first BMW featured the three finalists that participated in the Europeana TV Hacking Culture Bootcamp in Amsterdam at The Waag Society on May 8, 9, 10. These three finalists were Bosch, ART(F)INDER, and Mnemosyne. This weekend the first E-Space hackathon took place in Amsterdam, from the evening of the 8th until the 10th of May. The event, organised by the Europeana TV pilot of E-Space project, was challenging game and app developers, storytellers and interactive designers to create new multi-screen experiences with a focus on digitised historical footage. There is a huge amount of digitized photographic and cultural heritage available on Europeana – and similar open repositories such as Wikimedia Commons and Flickr Commons – that are just waiting to be reused in innovative new applications. This shared cultural content can be an opportunity, with current technologies, to bring people together, to form a glue of new relations between content owners, educators, cultural heritage institutions, developers, students, stakeholder communities, creative industries.
