Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe: final report

“Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe: Towards a European Index for Cultural Heritage” is a two-year project funded by the EU Culture Programme (2007-2013). Recently concluded, the project aimed to raise greater awareness on the multiple benefits of cultural heritage and present policy recommendations for tapping into heritage’s full potential. The Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe project has resulted in a nearly 300 page report that provides compelling evidence of the value of cultural heritage and its impact on Europe’s economy, culture, society and the environment. Food as European cultural heritage

On 18 June 2015, the countryside of Valdera (Pisa, Italy) was seat of an interesting international meeting, focussed on the role of food as element of the European cultural heritage (CH) and aimed at discussing how the changes within our society may have an impact on the wine & food traditions of a territory. Results of this workshop, held in the framework of the RICHES project, will merge into a public document, constituting the base of a policy brief addressed towards the European Commission. AICI at the RICHES International Conference

How can cultural institutions renew and remake themselves? How can they foster the shift from traditional hierarchies of Cultural Heritage (CH) to more fluid, decentred practices? Both RICHES and AICI are actively engaged in answering this question, central theme of the International Conference “Cultural Heritage: Recalibrating Relationships” held in Pisa, at the Museum of Graphics of Palazzo Lanfranchi, on 4-5 December 2014. As RICHES official associate partner, AICI brought its valuable contribution to the project event, participating in the conference and related poster session with several representatives from its member institutes. Pisa was chosen as seat for the International Conference “Cultural Heritage: Recalibrating Relationships”. On occasion of the Italian presidency of the Council of the European Union, the international consortium RICHES chose Pisa as seat for its important conference, held at the Museum of Graphics of Palazzo Lanfranchi on 4-5 December 2014. The event was organised by RICHES Italian partner Promoter Srl with the support of: Italian Ministry of Economic Development, Tuscany Region, Municipality of Pisa, University of Pisa and Fondazione Sistema Toscana (“Tuscany System Foundation”). RICHES first WORKSHOP at UIC

The workshop was celebrated on Tuesday, May 13th, at The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) Barcelona’s Campus and served as the foundation of the RICHES Project research areas. The workshop outcomes established an initial agreement of basic definitions and frameworks which will delineate RICHES’ fields of research and further study on the context of change in which European Cultural Heritage (CH) is transmitted and on the role of CH in the economic and social development of Europe.
